Pacific and Davie St. in Vancouver
Director
Coat Cooke
A full-length evening concert for Voices/Electronics/Strings/Horns/Percussion. Focused on developing a personal improvisational vocabulary and process, this unique program features several exciting new works. The voice is the first human instrument and electronics the most recent and in this program Orkestra Futura explores the terrain between them.
The ensemble continues with its focus that includes emerging artists like Lee Hutzulak/electronics and Soressa Gardner/electronics and five highly trained vocalists veterans (DB Boyko, Christine Duncan, Viviane Houle and Peter Hurst).
Mix in the strings (Jesse Zubot/violin, Chad MacQuarrie/guitar, Tommy Babin/bass), horns (JP Carter, Coat Cooke/reeds), and percussion (Skye Brooks) for support and you have a truly modern ensemble with the capability to build from a strong foundation of tradition and set course for a blueprint of the future using modern composed forms at the beck and call of a world class improvising ensemble.
